• My Story

My name is Ariana Tamas. I like music, dance and fall colours. But what I like most is the magic of human connections, the beauty of people being there for each other, and the mysteries of love and healing.

I left my native Romania when I was 14 and arrived in southern Ontario to a new city, a new language and a new outlook. My curiosity helped me adapt and make the most of my new surroundings despite the struggles of immigration and of missing loved ones.

Education in a number of fields (including communications, translation, psychology and teaching), travels to other parts of the world, and exposure to both meaningful encounters and hardship, have given me a wide range of enriching personal and professional experiences.

I have recently graduated with a Master of Arts in Counselling and Spirituality from Saint Paul University in Ottawa. The focus of my major research project (When Two Worlds Merge: Intercultural Couples and Their Narratives in Counselling and Psychotherapy) was on narrative therapy—meaning the stories that individuals develop about themselves based on their lived experiences and memories—in couples counselling when partners come from different cultures. I am now a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).

From my love of stories and my passion for supporting others to feel heard, StoryTime Counselling was born. Welcome!

In my practice, I draw from various approaches, such as narrative therapy, logotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, pscyhodynamic and internal family systems (IFS) orientations, depending on the unique story of each individual, couple or family.

Recognizing the cultural, spiritual and sexual dimensions of being human, I provide a safe, open and respectful space where you can explore your world and develop your story with curiosity, compassion, creativity, confidence and courage.
